Home cinema install: Reels on Wheels

The origins of this lush-looking cinema, it turns out, lie in Home Cinema Choice.

'Having dreamt of having my own cinema room for many years, in 2019 I decided to make it a reality,' says the owner. 'And my first step was to subscribe to Home Cinema Choice.'

Soon he'd spied the work of Kent-based installer New Wave AV, and booked a visit to its Experience Centre, with the idea of converting his garage into a dedicated movie room.

The result is a high-spec system based around four seats, with 7.1.4 audio via Anthem electronics and Artcoustic speakers. Sources include a Kaleidescape 4K movie server, Sky Q and UHD Blu-ray. Completing the picture is a 2.40:1 Screen Research acoustically transparent screen, and Sony VPL-VW570ES projector.

There's more to this room than just the kit list, of course. Details such as the split-panel starlight ceiling, 'floating' front wall (which accommodates projector screen, LCR speakers and subwoofers, and creates alcove space on either side for disc storage), and accent LED lighting give it an air of luxury, as does the Control4 smart system that oversees every element of the cinema, including illumination and window blind.

The owner could not have been happier with the outcome. His verdict? 'Epic!'
