Home cinema install: a cinema space odyssey
Created in close collaboration with the property's interior designer to ensure neither the desired look or performance of the space were compromised, the finished room delivers a 'reference Dolby Atmos experience' built around Wisdom Audio in-wall and in-ceiling speakers – in custom-made back boxes – and Datasat pre/power separates.
Given a blank canvas to work with, the installer also employed acoustic treatments by Italian company HTE.
A three-chip Digital Projection beamer is mounted outside the cinema, firing through a porthole to both maintain the room’s ultra-sleek aesthetic and eliminate noise interference. The projector was paired with a Lumagen Radiance Pro scaler to provide precise video and colour performance once ISF calibrated.
To bring the authentic movie-watching experience, a constant height, variable-width screen from Screen Excellence was fitted, which automatically adjusts to whatever content is being played.
Lighting effects, managed by a Lutron Homeworks system, include LEDs on the stair risers and a trio of ceiling panels. High-spec sources are an Oppo UDP-205 disc spinner and Autonomic media server – but there's also dedicated shelf space in the rear wall for a PlayStation...
