Zack Snyder's Justice League rolls out on Sky Cinema – but not in 4K [UPDATE: It is now]

[UPDATE] Thankfully, the film is now available to download in 4K – but not in HDR. Also, despite listing as being in Dolby Atmos, Sky (and our own AVRs) has confirmed it isn't, at least not yet. So we guess we'll have to do a daily download until it appears! Here's our original story.

Bat-fans eager to spend this morning enjoying Zack Snyder's Justice League, which was meant to launch across Sky Cinema and Now from 8am, were left in limbo when the movie – at first – failed to appear.

For reasons not yet explained, the film's 8am slot on the SkyPremiere channel was taken up by Stone of Destiny, a low-budget 2008 historical adventure flick starring Robert Carlyle. Hardly the four-hour FX extravaganza expected.

Additionally, while the Warner Bros comic book caper showed as being available to download to watch, attempts to do so resulted in a technical error message.

Most worrying for AV-hedz, however, is the lack of a 4K HDR version with Dolby Atmos audio. When the download problem was resolved after 9am, the only available options were SD and HD.

This contradicts information given to HCC by Sky sources in advance of the launch, and the Sky Q homepage this morning, which advertised the film as being available in 4K.

When asked about the rollout by HCC, a Sky spokesperson said: 'We’re sorry for any inconvenience caused due to a playout issue with Zack Snyder’s Justice League this morning. The film is available on demand now and will air on Sky Cinema again at 8pm this evening.'

We also understand a 4K version with Dolby Atmos audio will arrive soon. So maybe wait for that, eh?
