Described as 'not a re-invention, but an evolution' of its best-selling bassmaker, it features increased amp power (to a claimed 1200W RMS/ 2,000W peak) and a revised DSP profile to generate more slam and speed from its driver array.

The MicroVee MKII uses a 22.9cm x 22.9cm x 24.4cm extruded aluminium cabinet, with a front-firing 6.5in active woofer joined by two 6.5in passive radiators. Velodyne has added a new satin white finish – alongside the traditional satin black – to give the sub more living room appeal.

'Listeners will notice a much tighter and cleaner bass delivery, but with lots of with control and speed,' compared to the original MicroVee, says Velodyne. The sub is recommended for film fans, music-only listening and immersive gaming applications, and has a rated frequency response of 38Hz-120Hz.

Velodyne is now owned by German music specialist Audio Reference, and the MicroVee MKII is billed as the first product in a 'new initiative' to gain the brand new fans.

The Velodyne MicroVee MKII is available now, priced around £1,000.
