Masters of Cinema adds Hitchcock classic in April

Billy Wilder and Charles Laughton will also be joining the fun this year

'We're very excited to finally be welcoming British legend Alfred Hitchcock into the Masters of Cinema Series' states Curator, Founder and Production Director of the Masters of Cinema, Nick Wrigley. 'He made Lifeboat during WW2, his only film for Fox, and the same year he made two shorter films for the war effort - Bon Voyage and Aventure Malgache  - both collected here, in new HD restorations as a sumptuous Dual Format special edition'.

Hitch's WWII thriller will make its high-definition debut on April 23, alongside Dual Format outings for Kenji Mizoguchi's 1953 classic Ugetsu Monogatari (accompanied by a HD presentation of the director's Oyu-Sama) and his 1954 film Sansho Dayu (accompanied by a HD presentation of his 1953 film Gion Bayashi).

Tormented souls
Charles Laughton gets his chance to shine on May 28, with the Dual Format releases of Ruggles of Red Cap and Island of Lost Souls. Then it's time to turn the spotlight on Billy Wilder on June 25 with the Blu-ray release of Double Indemnity and The Lost Weekend.

Eureka has also revealed that it has just acquired the rights to Carl Theodor Dreyer's The Passion of Joan of Arc.

In related new, Eureka has also announced that it will be upgrading a number of its earlier Masters of Cinema Blu-ray releases to Dual Format editions on February 13. These include Tokyo Sonata, Mad Detective, Une Femme Mariee, Vengenace in Mine, La Planete Sauvage, Burmese Harp and The World.
