Mary Poppins returns in new Mary Poppins Returns trailer

Disney serves up a festive spoonful of sugar – and a big old helping of nostalgia – with the latest trailer for Mary Poppins Returns.

With no new Star Wars movie on the way to cinemas this Christmas, Disney is instead banking on the return of an old family favourite to magic up some boffo box office before the year is out.

Mary Poppins Returns sees Emily Blunt step into the iconic role of the magical nanny in a sequel to the 1964 original that sees Mary Poppins turning up to help the now grown-up Banks children (played by Emily Mortimer and Ben Whishaw) after they suffer a terrible loss. The cast also includes Lin-Manuel Miranda, Julie Walters, Colin Firth, Meryl Streep, Angela Lansbury and Dick Van Dyke, while Chicago and Into the Woods director Rob Marshall takes control behind the camera.

Mary Poppins Returns hits UK cinemas on December 21, where it will be fighting for your hard-earned cash with fellow bigscreen blockbusters Aquaman, Mortal Engines, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Alita: Battle Angel and Transformers spin-off Bumblebee. And before you can say ‘supercalifragilisticexpialidocious’, here’s the brand new trailer…
