LG unleashes its most affordable OLED TV

LG's BX series of OLED TVs is going on sale this week in the UK, with pricing announced as £1,300 for the 55in model, and £2,000 for its 65in sibling. The new range becomes the entry-point to the company's OLED display technology.

Both models share the same feature set, which includes 4K HDR playback (including Dolby Vision and Dolby Vision IQ), LG's WebOS and ThinQ AI smart features, and Dolby Atmos decoding.

The key specification difference over the company's CX and GX models is the use of a less powerful processor – the Alpha7 Gen3 chip rather than the Alpha9. Yet LG still promises a premium picture performance from its 'self-lit' OLED technology based around 'perfect black levels, outstanding colours, infinite contrasts and the sharpest details.'

The OLED65BX and OLED55BX are also intended to appeal to gaming enthusiasts. HDMI connectivity includes two HDMI 2.1 inputs, and the sets offer NVIDIA G-SYNC compatibility, Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) and Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM features), and claim a 'low input lag and fast response time.'
