Five Blu-rays to buy this week!

These movie and TV releases hit shops today and deserve a place in your collection... Looper

(Entertainment One, Region B Blu-ray)

Starring Bruce Willis and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, this time-travel hitman sci-fi was one of the most enjoyable flicks of 2012, and Entertainment One's Blu-ray packs an immersive DTS-HD MA mix and some fascinating extras.

Resident Evil: Retribution 3D

(Sony Pictures, All-region Blu-ray)

Paul WS Anderson continues to showcase his talent for 3D filmmaking with yet another slice of zombie action. And what this pacey sequel lacks in terms of plot, it makes up for with cinematic thrills

Piranha

(Second Sight, Region B Blu-ray)

This Roger Corman-produced, Joe Dante-directed monster movie is our favourite of all the Jaws rip-offs, and Second Sight's Blu-ray ensures it looks as good as it ever has. There's a great selection of bonus goodies, too

V/H/S

(Momentum Pictures, All-region Blu-ray)

A horror anthology that harks back to a bygone era of fuzzy, standard-def visuals, V/H/S hardly makes for a reference-grade HD experience, but it's certainly quick-witted and creepy.

The Treasure of the Sierra Madre

(Warner Home Video, All-region Blu-ray)

One of a whole slate of classic back-catalogue titles being given steelbook releases (with Ultraviolet codes) by Warner this week horror (Gone With the Wind and Ben Hur are among the others), this marks the first time the Humphrey Bogart movie has had a UK hi-def release.
