Arrow Video preps An American Werewolf in London for Blu-ray based on new 4K restoration

Arrow Video has announced that John Landis' 1981 horror comedy classic An American Werewolf in London is joining its lineup of Limited Edition Blu-rays with an extras-packed release in time for Halloween.

The 1080p release, out on October 28th, is based on a new 4K restoration of the original camera negative undertaken last year under the director's supervision. Audio options will include the original 1.0 mono soundtrack, plus DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 mix.

New special features will include Mark of The Beast: The Legacy of the Universal Werewolf, a feature-length documentary packing interviews with Landis, An American Werewolf in London star David Naughton, genre legend Joe Dante and others; a commentary by Paul Davis, director of documentary Beware The Moon; an interview with Landis (An American Filmmaker in London); and the Wares of the Wolf featurette focusing on original costumes and 'special effects artefacts'.

Further extras include the chat track by actors David Naughton and Griffin Dunne available on Universal's previous BD release; Davis' Beware the Moon doc; an archival Making of... featurette, interview with Landis and SFX discussion with make-up artist Rick Baker; plus outtakes, trailers, radio spots, extensive image gallery and more.

The Blu-ray will also come with a reversible sleeve allowing you to choose between the film's original poster art or new artwork by Graham Humphreys (pictured below), a double-sided poster, lobby cards and a 60-page booklet with essays, archive features and reviews.

We're already howling at the moon in anticipation...
