Arcam announces revamped AV receiver and processor lineup

Brit audio brand Arcam has unveiled a new generation of AV receivers, plus AV processor, that upgrade the HDMI specification to support 8K/60 and 4K/120 video passthrough.

The new models follow the template of the brand's previous lineup – all three of the AVRs are seven-channel designs, but with onboard processing supporting additional channels via external power amps. Meanwhile, the AV41 is a 16-channel processor, with both balanced XLR and single-ended RCA outputs [pictured below].

All four new Arcam machines feature seven HDMI inputs supporting 8K video up to 60fps, and 4K up to 120fps, plus Dolby Vision and HDR10+. The entry-level AVR11 offers two HDMI outs; the three pricier units feature three, enabling Zone 2 video.

Dolby Atmos, DTS:X and Auro-3D object-based audio decoding is onboard, as is Dirac Live room collection. Dirac's Bass Control module can be purchased as an optional extra.

Other features include IMAX Enhanced certification; dual subwoofer pre-outs, and Bluetooth with aptX HD. Wired and wireles network connectivity is complemented by Google Chromecast, Roon, Spotfy Connect and Tidal Connect, plus Arcam's MusicLife UPnP app.

Both the AVR11 and AVR21 uses Class A/B amplifier stages, promising 7 x 60W/8ohm and 7 x 90W/8ohm respectively. The flagship Class G-based AVR31 – a replacement for the AVR30, reviewed here – claims a 7 x 100W/8ohm power output.

All four units are scheduled to arrive in Q2 this year.

Pricing is as follows: AVR11 (£2,799), AVR21 (£3,799), AVR31 (£5,799), AV41 (£4,499)
