8K HDMI switching box announced for Denon and Marantz AV receivers

Denon and Marantz are both launching HDMI switchers that will allow owners of the company's 8K and 4K/120 AV receivers to connect more than one next-gen source at a time.

Although the Sound United brands were quick out of the gate with 8K-ready AV receivers, the models launched last year were somewhat hampered by only offering one HDMI input with support for 8K and – more importantly – 4K/120Hz passthrough.

The new Denon AVS-3 and Marantz VS3003 rectify this. Compact, slim-line boxes, the switchers feature a trio of HDMI inputs that support 8K and 4K/120Hz source devices. A single output is provided to then connect to an AVR.

The switchers are also compatible with HDMI CEC – allowing automatic on/off and source switching – and ship with an IR remote. They can also be controlled via the AVR handset.

Both the AVS-3 and VS30003 are 'no bigger than a Blu-ray case in width and depth,' and sport a brushed aluminium front panel.

Compatible receivers and processors are:

Denon AVC-A110, AVC-X8500HA, AVC-X6700H, AVC-X4700H, AVC-X3700H, AVR-X2700H and AVR-S960H.

Marantz AV8805A, AV7706, SR8015, SR7015, SR6015, SR5015 and NR1711.

Pricing is £199 and they will be available in October.
