Sky begins rollout of update to Sky Movies service
Sky is introducing another update to to the functionality of its Sky+HD boxes, this time targeting the Sky Movies platform and introducing features that will streamline the movie-choosing process.
Among the new tools being rolled-out from today include Watchlist, which will allow to you compile your own wishlist of on-demand movies to be accessed at a later date; More Like This, a recommendation service that will offer suggestions based upon a title selected; and Watch from Start, described as 'a nifty tool that’s already proven popular with Sky customers in Italy' that allows for a one-button download of a film you may have stumbled upon halfway through.
Sky will also be adding ratings from movie review site Rotten Tomatoes to content info. These will be sourced from the Audience Scores, rather than the often more harsh critic-based Tomatometer.
The update should be completed by the end of the year for all 'net-connected Sky+HD customers subscribing to the Sky Movies package. It follows previous software tweaks that have seen the introduction of the Kids tile on the home screen and revamps of the Sky Planner.
Luke Bradley-Jones, Sky's Director of TV Products says more developments will follow: "This is just the latest in a series of enhancements we're rolling out every few months. The pace at which we're developing for Sky+ has never been quicker, so customers can look forward to more updates later this year and into 2016.'
