February saw the death of an auteur, the likes of which the film industry may never see again. The man in question – 70-year-old writer/director/producer/actor Zalman King – was a veritable legend amongst fans of softcore erotica with artistic aspirations. That might explain the lack of coverage in the mainstream media.

The two biggest rivals in the beat ‘em up genre – Capcom’s Street Fighter and Namco’s Tekken – have put their differences aside to, ahem, beat the crap out of each other in this super-charged arcade smackdown. But can any game really live up to the kind of expectations that surround this one? Well, as far as this reviewer is concerned, the answer is a resounding ‘yes’.

Despite all of the awards heaped on it, this homage to silent cinema really isn’t the best film of the last year – it’s not even the best film I’ve seen this month. But, to give The Artist its dues, it is a funny, inventive and charming romantic-comedy-drama about the arrival of the ‘Talkies’ to Hollywood. Just don’t go expecting the most incredible movie experience of your life and you’ll be fine.

It's only been a couple of weeks since we introduced you to Avengers XXX: A Porn Parody, Axel Braun's adult movie spoof of the recent Marvel Studios superhero blockbuster. Well, never one to rest on his laurels, Braun (pictured below, with actor Derrick Pierce) has already started work on his next epic superhero porn parody, and this time around he's got Christopher Nolan's forthcoming The Dark Knight Rises squarely in his sights.

The animated adventures of CIA agent Stan Smith and his extended family may have been running since 2005, but based on this seventh DVD volume (confusingly, home to the entirety of the show's sixth season) it's showing no signs of slowing down. Indeed, for my money, the 19 episodes in this three-disc set include some of the very best in the show's history - proving that American Dad! is just at confident in exploring the psychology of its characters as it is in making jokes about farts.

I must have spent half my adult life playing various Tony Hawk skateboarding simulators, so I had high hopes for Electronic Arts’ SSX, a game which threatens to ‘pit riders against both mountain and man’. Yet somewhere in the transition from baggy skater shorts to wraparound snow goggles and luminous ski wear I’ve lost in all interest in hurtling around on a plank of wood. You see, in the Tony Hawk universe it seemed perfectly natural to grind your way along a pavement or whizz around the railings of a cruise ship, but I found pulling stunts off an oil-pipe halfway down a mountain faintly ridiculous.
