Zack Snyder's Justice League will be a Sky Cinema/Now TV exclusive

Zack Snyder's long-awaited director's cut of his Justice League movie will be available in the UK on March 18 through Sky Cinema and the satcaster's Now TV VOD platform – the same day it begins streaming in the US on HBO Max.

The exclusive deal between studio Warner Bros and Sky means the hotly anticipated, four-hour comic book flick won't – initially – be available as a Premium VOD option on other services (unlike Wonder Woman 1984, which had a wider release earlier this year).

The movie originally hit cinemas in 2017, after a troubled production. Snyder, who had previously helmed both Man of Steel and Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice in the DC Extended Universive (DCEU), left the project during filming following the death of his daughter, with Avengers director Joss Whedon brought onboard to replace him.

While Justice League grossed over $650m worldwide, it was deemed a box office flop, and fans of Snyder's earlier works also considered it a poor successor to Batman vs Superman.

After its release, an online campaign to release the 'Snyder Cut' began. Snyder confirmed in 2019 that such a cut existed, and it was announced by Warner in 2020 that it would be released this year, with the director even returning for some additional shoots.

There's no word yet on what formats the film will be available on to download via Sky Cinema (which has the capacity to deliver 4K HDR and Dolby Atmos).

Those without a Sky subscription can look at a Now TV Cinema Pass, priced £12 per month following a 7-day free trial. The Now TV app is available on Amazon Fire, Roku and Apple TV streaming players, PlayStation and Xbox consoles, Sony, Samsung and LG smart TVs, and the Now TV Stick.

DC fanboys might want to get an early breakfast, as the movie appears set to arrive at 8am...
