Top 5 Blu-rays to buy this week

New releases you'll want to add to your collection

Tom Cruise teams up with Tron: Legacy director Joseph Kosinksi for this 'daylight' sci-fi thriller. Shot on 4K digital cams, and with Life of Pi cinematographer Claudio Miranda on the team, it should look fantastic. Cruise and Kosinksi provide an audio commentary track.

2. Enterprise: Season Two

This prequel TV series to Star Trek suffered the ignomy of being cancelled before a planned fifth season, but smallscreen Trekkers are catered for by Paramount's BD releases. Season One arrived in April; Season Two collects another 24 episodes, plus plenty of bonus bits.

3. Deranged

Arrow Video brings this cult 1974 serial killer horror to the UK, uncut for the first time, with a 1080p transfer and LPCM 2.0 audio. The Blu-ray is packed with extras, including a chat track and intro from SFX guru Tom Savini, booklet, featurettes and reversible package art.

4. Top of the Lake

Entertainment in Video's two-disc release for Jane Campion's superb detective series follows hot on the heels of Sunday's broadcast finale, so grab this if you missed it on BBC Two. All six episodes are presented in the original 1.78:1 aspect ratio at 1080i/50.

5. Spaceship Battle Yamato

A live-action reboot of the 1970s anime series, this has a whiff of Battlestar: Galactica about it - but that's no bad thing. Manga's BD hurtles along at a relentless pace, with the impressive VFX shining through on the 2.40:1 HD encode. A thunderous DTS-HD MA 5.1 mix completes a tasty package.
