Q Acoustics launches M20 HD wireless speaker system for 'music, movies and gaming sound'
Billed as 'the most powerful and immersive way to enjoy music, movies and gaming sound anywhere in the home', the M20 HD comprises a pair of two-way bookshelf/standmount speakers, one incorporating 2 x 65W amplification and an input bank.
This powered model connects to its passive sibling via a supplied 4m-long speaker cable. Each speaker can be configured as either left or right in a stereo array, for ease of installation.
The speakers feature curved cabinets reinforced by Q Acoustics' proprietary P2P (Point-to-point) bracing. Behind their grilles (also curved to improve dispersion characteristics) are a 22mm decoupled dome tweeter and 5in bass/mid driver, with a crossover of 2.4kHz.
Frequency response from this compact pairing is rated down to 55Hz, but for more bass weight and slam an active subwoofer can be added via the M20 HD's subwoofer pre-out connection.
While most owners will likely use it mainly as a genuine stereo Bluetooth sound system (the aptX HD connection supports sampling rates upto 24-bit/48kHz), the M20 HD's USB and optical digital audio inputs allow for hi-res music playback – and the latter can be used to connect to a TV for a soundbar alternative.
Stands and wall-brackets are available as optional extras, while the system's EQ setting can be switched for optimal playback depending on room positioning – corner, wall or free space. A remote control is included.
Q Acoustics M20 HD is available soon priced £400. See the brand's website for more info.
