James Cameron's Aliens to screen in 70mm at Widescreen Weekend
James Camerson's action/sci-fi smash Aliens will screen in 70mm as part of the National Media Museum's Widescreen Weekend.
Individual tickets for the annual film festival – which takes place this year October 13-16 – are now on sale.
Cameron's classic, celebrating its 30th anniversary, closes the show's Friday night (October 14). The opening movie on Thursday 13th is The Agony and the Ecstasy, the 1965 Charlton Heston epic directed by Carol Reed.
Other flicks lined up include Alfred Hitchcock's Vertigo, The Innocents, Ghostbusters, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Magnificent Seven sequel Return of the Seven. The Widescreen Weekend will wrap up with James Bond outing On Her Majesty's Secret Service, introduced by actress Jenny Hanley.
Further events at the Bradford-based four-day fest include guided tours of the museum's history of cinema collections, a panel discussion on Virtual Reality, Cinerama screenings, a 'Love for the Lens' talk from an industry insider and the announcement of the Student Widescreen Film of the Year, as judged by The British Kinematograph, Sound and Television Society (BKSTS).
