Dream House
Disowned by director Jim Sheridan and stars Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz after being re-edited by producers, it’s hardly a surprise that Dream House is a nightmarish movie. But who knew it would be such a prime piece of car crash cinema? Thanks to its muddled tone, off-kilter performances and breathtakingly inane mid-film twist you just can’t help but keep watching, no matter how grotesque it all seems. A fascinatingly awful film.
Of course, as is often the case, being a terrible film doesn’t stop it looking and sounding superb on Blu-ray. The AVC 2.40:1 encode fills the screen with rich autumnal colours and crisp delineation, and explosive DTS-HD MA 5.1 audio cerrtainly knows how to get the best out of your speaker set-up.
In addition to the bonus DVD and UltraViolet Digital Copy that are a standard feature of Warner's Triple Play Blu-ray releases, it also includes a trio of featurettes - Building a Dream House (5min), Burning Down the House (4min) and Dream Cast (6min). Unsurprisingly, none of the extras make any mention of the behind-the-scenes difficulties.
