Ralph Finnes steps behind the camera for this particularly bloody take on the Bard
Like Richard III and Romeo + Juliet before it, Ralph Fiennes’ directorial debut gives one of Shakespeare’s plays a modern spin. A tale of warmongering and politics infused with imagery dragged straight from contemporary war zones, it makes for an arresting piece of cinema – even if it isn’t the most approachable of the Bard’s works.
The grainy, documentary-style visuals are accurately recreated by the Blu-ray’s AVC 2.40:1 1080p encode, while the DTS-HD MA 5.1 mix is more expansive than you might expect. Also included are a 26-min Making of… documentary, an hour of cast and crew interviews and a director’s commentary.
