Arcam announces HDMI 2.1 upgrade for its AV receiver and processor lineup

Saying its current AV receiver and processor range had been 'designed from the beginning with upgradability in mind', Arcam has today announced plans to offer an HDMI 2.1 board upgrade for its AVR10, AVR20, AVR30 and AV40 models later this year.

The upgrade will make the brand's receivers and processor, which first launched in 2019 with HDMI 2.0 connectivity, more suitable partners for next-gen gaming sources and new season TVs, while also enabling compatibility with 8K content.

Pricing and exact availability for the physical update, which will be undertaken by authorised Arcam service centres, has yet to be confirmed.

Arcam says the upgrade will bring HDMI 2.1 functionality – including frame-rate support up to 120fps – to all HDMI inputs and outputs on its AVRs and processor. Full details will be announced this Summer.

'We will be working with our global dealer and distributor partners to ensure that the upgrade process is as quick and painless as possible,' says Jim Garrett, senior director of product strategy and planning at Arcam's parent company Harman Luxury Audio.
