Grand. Sweeping. Majestic. Epic. These are the words that have come to define David Lean's captivating 227-minute biography of the enigma that was T.E. Lawrence – a remarkable cinematic achievement of the kind we'll probably never see again. Simply unmissable.

When Superman's clumsy clone Bizarro makes his own Justice League using equally inept clones of Batman, Wonder Woman et al, the real versions face their toughest (and silliest) challenge yet. Fun for LEGO and DC Comics fans of all ages, this CG animation look pretty super on Blu-ray and comes equipped with a suitably dynamic DTS-HD MA 5.1 soundtrack.

Those of you who weren't exactly thrilled with the original 2009 Blu-ray release of Luc Besson's acclaimed action film are unlikely to find much to celebrate about this new 20th anniversary release. Like its predecessor it boasts two cuts of the film and seems to be based on exactly the same masters, judging from the AVC 2.35:1 1080p imagery's pushed yellow hues and boosted contrast. Amazingly there are even less extras this time around – just short interviews with Jean Reno and composer Eric Serra. But it does come in a very snazzy steelbook…

This suitably epic screen adaptation of the hit West End musical definitely gets the most out of this hi-def platter. The opening act's frequently dark and gloomy imagery reveals a wealth of fine detail in close-ups, while the second half of the film is awash with golden hues. Fans of the production will also savour the director's commentary and hour-long Making of… documentary also included on the Blu-ray. However, it's the DTS-HD MA 7.1 soundtrack that really dazzles – not just in the big musical numbers (although they sound fantastic), but through its forceful employment of the entire speaker array.

North by Northwest and Psycho. Other than the fact they were both directed by Alfred Hitchcock, what else links these two movies?

A box office flop in the Summer of 1985, Tobe Hooper's $25million sci-fi-horror epic has since been relegated to the status of a 'guilty pleasure', mainly remembered for leading lady Mathilda May's many nude scenes. However, time has been surprisingly kind to the film and – while not without its flaws – today Lifeforce stands out from the bland Hollywood blockbusters that followed in its wake as a unique, astonishingly audacious and brilliantly bonkers special effects extravaganza.

Limitless stars Bradley Cooper as failed writer Eddie Mora, whose life is completely turned around when he gets his hands on an experimental drug that boosts his brainpower. Within days he’s not only finished his novel, but also made millions on the stock market and come to the attention of high-powered businessman Carl Van Loon (Robert De Niro). Trouble is, the pills are leaving him with gaps in his memory, one of which might connect him to a murder, and if that’s not enough, there’s also a Russian gangster who wants to get his hands on the wonder drug.

No 'mere' biopic of that most famous of American Presidents, Steven Spielberg's Lincoln is the third in a loose trilogy of films about race that the filmmaker has made over the past three decades (the others being 1985's The Color Purple and 1997's Amistad).

Fans of Frank Oz's blackly comic musical about a man-eating plant are well-served by this recent region-free US Blu-ray release. Not only do the (authentically grainy) AVC 1.78:1 1080p encode and remixed DTS-HD MA 5.1 audio make it look and sound better than ever, but the disc also includes the option to watch the 'Director's Cut' of the film which features a meticulous restoration of the original downbeat - and somewhat more spectacular - finale. Also included on the disc are a director's commentary (plus a separate chat-track for the alternate ending), two retrospective featurettes, outtakes and deleted scenes and two trailers.

For his fourth film as director, Ben Affleck has returned to where he started with an adaption of another Dennis Lehane novel. Sadly, unlike that superb first effort (2007's Gone Baby Gone), this Prohibition-era gangster film is an oddly flat and lifeless affair that is primarily undone by Affleck's choice of leading man – himself.

Struggling to make ends meet after losing his construction job at the Charlotte Motor Speedway, Jimmy Logan (Channing Tatum) devises a plan to rob the vault at his former employer with the aid of his sister Mellie (Riley Keough) and one-armed brother Clyde (Adam Driver).
