The popular trope 'war is hell' hangs heavily over Fury, a big-budget WWII movie starring Brad Pitt as a tank commander battling the last remnants of the German army during the Spring of 1945. For much of its running time this is a grim, uncomfortable watch, a brooding character study punctuated by shocking moments of violence. Indeed, when the final act arrives, with its more straightforward focus on a David vs Goliath-style siege, you may find yourself breathing a sigh of relief.

Good news everyone. Futurama has been brought back from cancellation for a second time! It’s starting to seem like nothing short of the end of the world will keep Matt Groening’s sci-fi toon off our screens. Which is no bad thing as (no matter how niche its fanbase might be) Futurama remains the most consistently funny and geek-friendly cartoon around.

It's been 18 long months since the fifth season of sci-fi cartoon Futurama hit Blu-ray in the UK. During this time two further seasons have been released to buy in the US and the show has been cancelled all over again. But let's not dwell on the negatives. Instead, let's simply be happy that UK fans have another 13 episodes to enjoy in hi-def with this belated release of the show's sixth season.

Now here's a curious thing: a film that is both a sequel to a recent action blockbuster as well as being a reboot of the entire franchise.

What is it going to take to convince Joel and Ethan Coen to stop messing around with remakes of classic British crime capers? While they didn't actually direct Gambit (unlike 2004's The Ladykillers), they're still responsible for the laugh-free script that forms the backbone to this Colin Firth and Cameron Diaz 'comedy'. Clearly realising that the film was a dud, the distributor hasn't bothered with any extras beyond a promo featurette and trailer. Still, at least the detail-rich AVC 2.40:1 1080p visuals show that no corners were cut when it came to presenting the film in HD.

Exactly how many times can HBO's fantasy series pull the rug out from under its viewers? Even in the aftermath of the Red Wedding, it still has the power to shock and surprise audiences and this fifth year is no exception.

After success in most other genres, HBO has turned its attention on the fantasy epic with this adaptation of the first of George RR Martin’s acclaimed A Song of Ice and Fire novels. And once again the result is a televisual masterpiece that looks set to live up to its literary source material, which takes the standard fantasy tropes and uses them as the framework for a truly adult fantasy saga of depth and complexity.

HBO's blockbuster adaptation of George R.R. Martin's series of fantasy novels continues to go from strength-to-strength. Following the shocking events of last season's 'Red Wedding', the political landscape has shifted, with new players entering the arena and old ones facing a multitude of new threats. Of course, discussing anything that happens risks spoiling the myriad twists and shocks that these ten episodes have in store for those not already watching on Sky Atlantic. So all we'll say is that Game of Thrones remains one of the best TV dramas being made today. Watch it!

The battle for the throne of Westeros continues to heat up in this adaptation of the second novel in George R.R. Martin's series.

Now in its penultimate season, HBO's epic fantasy series has moved far beyond where author George R. R. Martin has got to with the source novels and is carving its own path to a suitably big finale.

These are interesting times for HBO's epic fantasy. With author George R.R. Martin still holed up somewhere beavering away on the sixth novel in the series (The Winds of Winter, release date TBC), the TV adaptation hasn't just caught up with the books, but in its sixth season is having to chart its own course. So how is the show faring without the luxury of one of Martin's novels to draw upon?

If we had any complaint about the second season of HBO's epic fantasy series, it was that the myriad plots and new characters never really seemed to coalesce, giving it a slightly aimless feeling at times.

Based on the true story of an off-the-books police squad set up in 1940s L.A. to bring down boxer-turned-gang boss Meyer 'Micky' Cohen, Gangster Squad has the kind of setup that most crime writers could only wish they'd dreamt up. Add to that some serious star power, including Josh Brolin, Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone and Sean Penn, and you'd expect this to be the sort of modern classic that could rival L.A. Confidential or Chinatown.

When British cinema’s enfant terrible Ken Russell claims that a filmmaker’s work ‘went right over my head and seemed a little terrifying, but I’m all for it’, it’s understandable that you might be worried about what you’re getting yourself in for. Suffice to say, GAZWRX: The Films of Jeff Keen is unlike any Blu-ray release this writer has seen before. But that’s one of the reasons I treasure the BFI so highly, it’s ability to constantly surprise and challenge viewers with releases that would simply be unlikely to find a release anywhere else.

While the huge influence his Night of the Living Dead/Dawn of the Dead/Day of the Dead trilogy had on horror cinema ensures that the late George A. Romero will always be remembered as the 'father of the zombie film', his 40-year career as a filmmaker understandably dealt with more than just the undead.
