Back when HCC was fresh of face, Star Wars was a trilogy and the Marvel Cinematic Universe had peaked at Howard the Duck, the very thought of a 48in TV would have blown my mind. A 36in set was typically as large as you could get back then, and even that would have required a van full of mates just to get it out of the box. An ultra-thin 48-incher would have been the screen of dreams, home cinema nirvana.

Mini LED is perhaps the TV technology story of the year. The implementation of LEDs far smaller than those of conventional backlights has helped put TCL on the TV map and taken Samsung's 2021 Neo QLED TVs to new heights. And now it's back to (hopefully) revolutionise LG's LCD fortunes with the 75QNED99, a 75in 8K model with a price tag far more tempting than the company's 8K OLEDs.

If you have had contact with French manufacturer Elipson in the UK, it is likely to be on account of its distinctive-looking (read: spherical) Planet loudspeakers, or its Prestige Facet lineup (the latter including Dolby Atmos upfiring modules – see HCC #291). But as well as these offerings, the company makes a small number of smaller electronic goodies. We previously looked at its Chroma 100 turntable in HCC #318, and now it's the turn of the recently updated Music Centre to receive our attention.

The Founder Series is the first new range of speakers released by Canadian corp Paradigm since founder Scott Bagby returned in 2019 – which explains the name. Bagby, who launched the brand in 1982, sold his majority stake in 2005 and left in 2009, but has now reacquired full ownership of Paradigm and sister brand Anthem. And he's back with a bang.
