Hammer's ongoing restoration program for its classic horror films continues to bear fruit with the news that Terrance Fisher's 1958 hit Dracula (aka Horror of Dracula) will be following in the footsteps of The Curse of Frankenstein and getting a feature-packed Double Play Blu-ray release in the UK through Lionsgate on March 18.

On Monday Marvel announced that it would unveil the trailer for its next superhero blockbuster, Avengers: Age of Ultron, following next week's episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. However, all of the studio's careful planning went straight out of the window yesterday when a leaked version of the trailer started appearing online. Realising that it had to take action quickly, Marvel has responded by releasing the official version of the trailer (in all of is full-screen 1080p glory) earlier than planned. The home entertainment market is experiencing its biggest shift in a decade, according to analyst GfK. Speaking at an annual conference of UK hi-fi trade body The Clarity Alliance, it said the move from conventional AV separates to soundbars and multiroom is reshaping consumer electronics.

Calculating the relationship between room acoustics, speaker dispersion, screen gain and projection is notoriously difficult to master and usually left to high-end installers to work out. But now an entire room can be automatically designed, specified and rendered thanks to an ingenious new software package called The Cinema Designer.

It's the most wanted 3D Blu-ray release of all time, but until now the only way to get hold of a stereoscopic version of James Cameron's award-winning sci-fi spectacular Avatar was as part of a promotional deal with selected Panasonic Blu-ray players, recorders and cinema systems. Either that, or pay over-the-odds on ebay or similar auction sites for a second-hand copy.
