LG confirms 55in OLED TV for Summer UK arrival
LG has today confirmed that wealthy AV enthusiasts in the UK only have to wait to July to finally get their mitts on its groundbreaking 55in OLED TV. Those with a spare £10,000 just need to pop down to Harrods Technology and put in a pre-order.
The 55EM970V (which has a depth of 4.5mm thin and weighs less than 10kg) has been teased for over a year, with LG initially saying that pre-orders would be accepted last Summer. The delay doesn't appear to have caused the brand too many problems - no one else has an OLED TV ready to sell - although Ultra HD screens have stolen the display limelight somewhat.
'We are proud to be the first in the world to offer consumers a bigscreen OLED TV,' says Brian Na, President of LG Electronics UK. 'Our next-generation display is a true game-changer, which will forever alter the way we think about TVs. Since OLED TV was first unveiled, we’ve been working tirelessly to bring what we call ‘the ultimate display’ to market.'
The LG 55EM970V joins LG’s 84LM960V Ultra HD TV on the Harrods shopfloor. If you want that 84in beast, you'll need around £22,500.
