First Freeview Play HD set-top box launched

Humax FVP-4000T features built-in Wi-Fi, network connectivity and a new compact design

Humax has launched the first set-top box to deliver the new Freeview Play HD connected TV service, which combines catch-up TV, on-demand services and live television in one subscription-free package.

Powered by the Opera Devices SDK (software development kit), the Humax FVP-4000T boasts three tuners and built-in Wi-Fi for easy connection to any broadband service. 500GB and 1TB models are available, offering up to 300 hours and 600 hours of programme storage space, respectively. Catch-up services include BBC iPlayer, ITV Player, All 4 and Demand 5. Meanwhile, Humax claims that a recent agreement will see Netflix added to the the FVP-4000T's line-up on on-demand services early next year.

Humax's new STB also employs a new compact and stylish design with a leather-look top available in two different colours – 'Mocha' (pictured) and Cappuccino (which combines a brown top, gold trim and white base). The FVP-4000T is priced at £200 for the 500GB version and £230 for the 1TB model, and is available now from a range of UK retailers, including John Lewis, Tesco, Curry, PC World, Argos and Humax Direct.

To coincide with the arrival of the FVP-4000T, Freeview has launched a superb new animated advert for Freeview Play, which you can watch right here...
